We would like to recognize Janet Sommovigo for her many contributions to MPA. Janet comes from a long line of Sommovigo family volunteers and supporters. She serves as an office assistant and in this role, her responsibilities have included direct mailings, document shredding and assisting at the Youth Art Show Openings and MPAartfest. We thank Janet for more than three years of service to MPA and look forward to her continued volunteering.

About MPA

McLean Project for the Arts
McLean, VA, United States
MPA is a non-profit visual arts center founded in 1962 to exhibit the work of emerging and established regional artists. The mission of McLean Project for the Arts is to exhibit the work of emerging and established artists from the mid-Atlantic region; to promote public awareness and understanding of the concepts of contemporary art; and to offer instruction and education in the visual arts. In addition to its program of high quality, professionally-curated art exhibitions, MPA presents special traveling exhibitions from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. MPA/Corcoran, an educational partnership, offers art classes for children and adults taught by instructors from the Corcoran College of Art + Design. MPA also presents the Art Reach program for area schools, gallery talks, and day trips to area museums and galleries. All works of art exhibited at MPA are for sale unless otherwise noted.

Save the Dates!

by McLean Project for the Arts

Tuesday, August 31, 7 - 9 pm marks the return of Cocktails and Coloring (or some variation thereof!)  Meet some of the MPAartfest artists and even have a chance to sign up to volunteer to help MPA on the day of MPAartfest.  Be on the lookout for an MPA eblast with all the details.

Sunday, September 12, 3 - 6 pm is the date of a very special fundraising event for MPA.  We will be auctioning a private collection of fine contemporary art generously donated to MPA specifically for fundraising.  The well-documented collection includes paintings, ceramic sculpture and outdoor sculpture.  More info to come.

Join us Thursday, September 16,  7 -9 pm for the opening reception and gallery talk for Realism Now:  Citiscapes.  Also opening that night are Heaven and Earth:  Prints by Joanna Axtmann and Drawings by Raye Leith.  Free and open to the public.

Saturday, September 25 is the MPAartfest Soireé at a spectacular contemporary home in McLean.   Invitations to come.

Thursday, September 30, 5 - 8 pm is MPA night at the Silver Diner in Tysons Corner. Have dinner and the Silver Diner will donate 20% of their proceeds to MPA.  It will be a fun evening so don't plan on cooking!

Of course, don't forget to save the date for the MPAartfest!  Sunday October 3, 10:30 am - 4:30 pm is our free, fun-filled arts festival in McLean Central Park.  You can learn more about MPAartfest by visiting www.mpaart.org/artfest.php
